We dog-sat today for some friends of ours. He's a black lab named Jamie. This dog is THE most docile animal you'd ever want to meet.
BUT.....who makes the dog growl defensively at her? I don't know what Montana did to the dog. LOL The dog was outside on the patio laying in front of the sliding screen door and Montana was in the house on the OTHER side of the screen door. All of a sudden I hear Jamie growl and bark LOUDLY at Montana. Now this is most unfortunate because Montana already has a love/hate relationship with animals. Well, not so much love/hate than love/fear. She LOVES the idea of dogs, and she's all excited about Jamie being here, but get her to pet him? LOL She touches him for all of 2 seconds with the tip of her finger. LOL Now may be a different story. LOL Jamie going off on her scared the crap out of Montana....to the point of tears and shaking. Oh well, hopefully we'll be able to get her a dog by the time she's 18. LOL

seriously, try her with a pug--they don't bite, and they don't have a mean streak....

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to give her a health respect of dogs, there are some really bad dogs running the streets now days. (Or should I say really bad owners.) But Joe is onto something when it comes to teaching about dogs she can trust.
My great-niece is scared of cats and my niece (her aunt) had a cat in the house while they were visiting for Easter.
This is not a nice cat, it kept swiping at the children. But I lol when I heard the little great niece scolding the cat "no hitting!"
My two dogs love everyone except my dd new puppy...they run away from him. Dogs can sense if someone is fearful of them. I think the dog was just warning her. or sensing her fear. My two are babies and have very strong bonds with us.
Oh, she just isn't use to a big dog..My schnauzer likes to bark but she will lick you to death, and right up your nose..LOL
